Hello Chris.

Wonderful to read your blog. Loved your 'rant'. So pleased to hear you are going to Thailand. Incredible foods there.

Congratulations on the sale of the Wheat Grass Company. Your off island clients will miss you.

Have experienced world class menus here in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Truthfully, your raw food is the best I have had and the way I feel when I eat raw is astonishing.

Miss not seeing you and Jim.

May your travels be filled laughter and joy.

Loving kindness.

Hi,

Paula Deen donfessed to Dr. Oz that she has always been a smoker. That's probably why her voice is gravelly too. It is so hard to turn away and give up the addictions that comfort us. I hope that someday she awakens to a different life path.

I've been calling myself an 80%er for some time so this is affirming, Chris. I consume hemp seeds & flax oil daily, munch away on raw veggies and fruit and occasionally roast veggies for eating, souping and stewing. I suspect you'd call me a 60%er because I also enjoy cheese, porridge at brekkies and sprouted bread.

I work at listening to what my body tells me. I question my success - especially when I crave a good dose of chocolate - but I'm healthy!

Your posts are an excellent reminder for me! My sugar craving has lessened considerably since Rawsome came into my life!

Hi Chris.
Thanks for the update on your wheatgrass business.
I love this article. I am also eating more cooked vegan food. Gave up using almonds as I did find out that my Omega 3 was dangerously low. Now paying close attention to my intake of EFA foods. Will make the recipes. Sound great.

Words that ring so true. Ruts are easy to get into, and as we live in them, they become deeper and harder to get out of.................but it is possible if we choose to. Thanks for this great reminder to step outside the comfort zone of the rut, and embrace what we deep down desire.

Good for that couple, Chris. And imagine Jim and you opening your home and life to that extent. Wow!

As a person living alone, I've dreamed about having Rawsome supply a meal a day for me. I wonder if I could afford such an incredible approach.

Thanks Amy,
I'm glad not mincing words is considered a good thing to you. Obviously I have a bias towards raw plant-based foods. However, it is natural that we want some heat due to the fact we live in such a cold climate. I personally believe a lot of that need is psychological. So I look at how I can trick my mind. What can I prepare that provides me with that warmth?

First off I'll up the hot spices like cayenne, curry, chili, ginger. I will heat myself internally.

I will place my plates in the dehydrator or warming oven so the plate is warm to the touch. I will make a raw soup or stew and then place in the dehydrator at 105 degrees for 30-60 minutes. Again, it warms the container as well as the food bringing it all to room temperature or warmer. You can do the same by putting in a pot on the stove on low and shut off the heat once it is simply warm to the touch. It will still be around 105 degrees.

I will also prepare salads that have thicker dressings that are more like sauces providing density to the food I am eating - it feels less light and raw and more like it is almost lightly steamed. I will also make dishes that require some marinating (e.g. marinated mushrooms) so that they have a 'cooked' texture. All that provides me with a psychological impression my food is warmer and dare I say 'cooked'.

Finally, if what you need is some lightly steamed food, then that's what you need. Always pay attention to what YOU need. However, if I can interject with a caution, no matter if the food is raw or cooked, ultimately your body will thank you if the food is plant-based.

Thanks as always for your readership and pertinent comments.
